Hi,
If you are not a high throughput DNA sequencing facility, capillary
technology is not ideal. ...go with slab technology. (I.e. Basestation)
Materials for slab runs can be kept indefinitely.
Issues with 3700:
**1. Polymer life time: 5 days: $365.00
If you use half the bottle(abut 6 runs) and have one or two runs within the
time period. You have wasted the polymer by not having enough runs.
Operating use of polymer: bubble remove, installing new polymer, restarting
3700 machine.
2. Clean-ups: Edge BioSystems:96 Well Spin Column(50/pk): $2544.90
(50.90/plate)
In incomplete 96 tray, you can not save the column not is use.
3. Reaction/Elution Trays: 3.50 per plate
You need twice amount of trays. One for the thermocycler and other for
cleanup.
These are the major waste for us. Last year we did 1-2 megabase per week.
