MALDI in particular

My Institute Director would like an idea about what sort of charges other
ACADEMIC facilities do for MALDITOF work--OK all of you at
pharmaceuticals, government research labs and and other commercial
ventures can go back to work.

Could you take a moment to answer the following questions for us--

Does your academic facility have MALDITOF for shared use--where the users
do their own MALDITOF determinations?

What is the cost per hour for use of this shared MALDITOF?

IF your academic facility does actual operation of the MALDITOF for mass
determinations

What are your charges for (these are all for IN-HOUSE acadmic samples)

A A simple sample, such as a protein solution or peptide that does not
require desalting?

B A more complex sample that requires desalting?

Do you charge separately for HPLC time or zip-tip and your time to desalt?

C To run a trypsin digested sample on the MALDI and to do a database
search to identify the protein(s)

D To perform a tryptic digest on a LIQUID sample and run the MALDI and do
the database search

E To perform a tryptic digest on an in-gel sample and run the MALDI and
do the database search

Obviously, things are more complex than this--if you have a web page to
which you would like to point us for the answers, that would be great.
Or if you have a price sheet that you would like to FAX, send to
541-346-5891.

Thanks for your help. I will gladly summarize this for the group, after
ABRF.
