Susan,
I use (definitely like and heartily recommend) InforMax's software (see
www.informaxinc.com). They offer free demos, and distributed a demo CD in
the genome issue of Science. VectorNT runs on a Mac or PC. Their higher
end package, GenoMax, is a client-server deal, but it's absolutely
phenomenal! Especially for a biologist who's not really (yet) a
bioinformatician.

Hi everyone,
I am interested in purchasing a bioinformatics software package such as
SeqWeb/GCG or equivalent. My small core laboratory currently uses
MacVector and Sequencher. I have been unable to find a comparison of
software packages or much discussion of user preferences for specific
packages. If you have an opinion, I would like to hear it.
Thanks,
Susan Newman
