Hi. Since this is not really related to the scientific content of
the list, I'll try to be brief. An active ABRF committee
(http://abrf.org/ABRF/committees/web_site.html) is pursuing an
overhaul of our web site and other electronic communication outlets
including this list. Suggestions provided by the membership of the
ABRF and list participants has played an important role in crafting
our RFP and has helped us solicit several excellent proposals. We
have several proposals from professional design and engineering firms
in hand and each can address concerns about virus propagation and
bandwidth abuse on one hand, while maintaining the invaluable
communication provided by sharing files on the other.
The proposed changes will not disrupt the list in any way and
includes other improvements that a professional list management tools
will provide. A firm will be selected as soon as possible and our
timeline indicates the process will be complete in the fall. It is
possible that we will see positive changes to the list before the
entire job is complete.
Now back to your regularly scheduled scientific discussion...
