Try NuPAGE system from Novex (now part of Invitrogen: www.invitrogen.com).
Their BisTris gels can last over a year and their tricine gels can last
about three months more or less like Tris-gly gels.
I have been using these gels for more than four years. I reccommend to
everybody I know.
By the way, for 50KD protein, I would suggest you use BisTris gel
with MOPS running buffer.
