RE: DNASeq:I need to talk to a MEGABASE user

Lisa,

I think one of the problems mentioned by Lekha is that the default
chromatogram file format for the MegaBACE (.esd) is not read by commonly
used software like editview, so clients cannot see their data like they can
with the ABI systems. However, the MegaBACE collection software can be
configured to create an ABI formatted file that is read. This works pretty
well, except that any data in comments or other fields are not transferred
from the esd to the abi file, so information can be lost. Also the esd
files have funny start and end times. We see that in a run of 96, some of
the files can have run end times a second earlier than the others. Not a
big deal, unless you need to group data by run start and end times.

Cheers,

Todd

Lisa ,
For a group networked into the Megabace , it is a great instrument .
However , if yours is a multiuser core lab that needs to *dispense* data ,
the Megabace is nothing short of a nightmare !
