Before the 3700 does anything with the robot, it runs a very thorough
check of the location of its probe tips by repeatedly touching the
various reference points on the plate deck and on the load bar. Any
slightly-bent tips can be detected and taken into account. I tend to
agree with ABI (except I can't recall offhand whether the robot checks
only one of the tips or both). Surely they weren't denying that your
tips were bent - perhaps just pointing out that the robot would com-
pensate for it pretty well.

We had a problem similar to yours - dye showing up in the wrong caps.
In our case, it was a poor spacial. For some reason, the alignment of
camera-to-array had shifted. A new spacial corrected the problem. You
ran a new spacial when you replaced your array, so may have corrected
a similar problem in doing so.
