I do not know of a study of the degree of satisfaction of oligo
outsourcing. I suspect that it may be easy to survey but hard to
interpret
the responses, and harder to generalize. These days, with all the vendor
promotions, those who do not buy from outside may be those who are
consistently pleased with the CORE DNA. If one test outsourcing with only
a few oligos, the odds favor outsourcing because oligo synthesis succeeds
over 95% of the time, especially for PCR primers and sequencing primers.
You will need a large data set.

At the end of 2000, the Nucleic Acid Research Group of ABRF conducted a
thorough analysis of the quality of DNA synthesis by about 33 DNA
synthesis
instruments in CORE facilities and commercial facilities . We invite you
to view the results with a Web browser at

Above NARG study showed that most DNA synthesizers, CORE or
commercial,
make good primers. However, quality varies with respect to whether all
four nucleotides in DNA are made equally well. Thus the quality of
long oligos and modified oligos may vary greatly among facilities while
shorter primers may pass.

Please let the NARG members know if there is something we can do for
you.
If you are making DNA as a service, we like to assure you that with good
quality
control, your DNA will be the best your users can get anywhere.

Thanks!
