Are you aware of the American Electrophoresis Society (www.aesociety.org)
you can find out more than you ever wanted to know about 2D! They have a
conference coming up in November in Reno in conjunction with ACS (poster
abstract deadline is past but you can still submit as there has been an
extension made).
As far as what you are asking for - what are you going to be doing? We do
toxicoproteomics and never run less than 20 gels at a time (25x18.5cm
format) but if you are only having one or two samples at a time then your
requirements are much different than ours. Biorads system is quite good
(dodeca?) where you can run 12gels in a go, unfortunately it isn't big
enough for us though.....however if you also need to run many at a time -
let them know! Perhaps if enough of us show the need for bigger systems
they will start to make them! As it is we run 40 of the large format gels
per week and we need the bigger tanks.
If there are any more specific questions feel free to contact me.

Our core facility is going to start running 2D gels for protein
identification and analysis. We are interested to hear from other labs
concerning vendor preference, etc. We are looking at Pharmacia and BioRad.
Thank you in advance for your help.
