Dear Janice,

If you are willing to sort out amino acid mixtures on HPLC, Marfey's
reagent (FDAA; 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrophenyl-5-L-alanine; Pierce # 48895,
page O-146, 94-95 catalog) will allow resolution of D and L histidine using
C18 columns.
