A nicely detailed message was on the list a few months ago, describing an
industry labs' successful noise reduction design. I do not have a copy
to forward, just sending this to note that the suggestion of
sound-deadening tiles worked in our MS lab also.

The contractors installed them from the ceiling down the wall to waist high
level, which was adequate to muffle noise reflecting nearest the ears.
They also covered them with cloth. Placing the recirculating chiller in
the equipment corridor was necessary in our lab, too, since the space for
the instrument is so small. This also helps reduce the noise a lot.
