I sequenced two purified peptides derived enzymatically from a protein. In
both cases, where an Arg was expected [10.28 min], I obtained a peak at
10.04 min [outside the range I usually give to Arg of +/- 0.2].
Crankshaw and Grant's 1993 Identification of Modified PTH-Amino Acids in
Protein Sequence Analysis lists an unknown associated with Arg as appearing
between Ala and Ser' and near Methyl His.
Does anyone know what this modified Arg might be? The only reagent the
researcher used which stands out for me was urea.
Thanks for your help.
