Tim,
I have been using a Beckman 171 Radio-isotope detector. The system works OK as
long as you have reasonable amounts of radioactivity.I would agree with Ken
about the low efficiency due to the large flow cells required to produce
sufficient dwell time for counting.However.I have been using narrow bore HPLC
with a smaller flow cell(decreased volume) to try to reproduce the results from
a larger cell.On my system, the P32 petide peaks are never very sharp in
comparison to the UV trace so we count the fractions around the peak as well.
After all this waffle,I would agree with Ken about the HVE/TLC system.
As an addition to all this,I would like to know if anyone has tried using a
solid scintillant cell(90% efficient) and obtained recovery of labelled peptide.
Regards```````` Sandy.
