Dear Ruth,
My own experience in storing 2D gels long term for future analysis by
in-gel digestion has been to dry them, as normal, covered with celophane.
They can be mounted on a stiff card to keep them from curling or pressed
in a heavy lab note book or something. I have returned to gels stored in
such a way over 18 months later and been able to obtain successful
digestion and sequence data.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Rob.
