Umit's comment about buying small quantities of 2-mercaptoethanol
reminds me of something I learned when buying 100ml of 2-ME. I was told that
2-ME was "highly toxic and very dangerous" and could only be shipped by
truck. That came to $11 for the 2-ME and $25 for shipping. Everything else
on the order was OK for air shipment. So, what else was on the order that
came by air? Cyanogen bromide and acrylamide! I guess they must not be toxic
or dangerous. Go figure!
