Cobalt(III)

Here's an inorganic question for somone out there.

I vaguely remember that cobalt(III) or (II) can form covalent
bounds with peptides. If this is true, I would like to covalently
bind Co to a calcium binding proteins/peptides and try to
identify cation coordination sites.

Is this correct? If so, does anyone know a reference or a
method?
