I've heard that it can be difficult to generate polyclonal
antibodies to peptides from any 7-transmembrane protein
for the purpose of identifying that protein by Western blot.
Has anyone observed this problem? If so, do you have any
specific recommendations on the selection of peptides
(e.g. long or short), comments on best carrier (KLH?), or
other general hints specific to 7-transmembrane proteins?
Have you been successful using peptides from short loop regions
between the transmembrane segments?
