Job Title: Bioseparations Technical Support Specialist
Salary: Tech Support Specialist II = $33,842 - $55,848
Tech Support Specialist III= $40,435 - $66,726
SUMMARY:
Provides technical support to customers, sales specialists, and
distributors regarding information on PerSeptive Biosystems'
products by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist customers in the operation and use of PerSeptive Biosystems'
technologies. Answers customers' questions on operation of
Bioseparations products.
Provides instrument and chemistry telephone support. Customers'
questions are highly technical, requiring Technical Support Specialist
to apply scientific knowledge of instrument, application methods, and
chemistry in providing responses/solutions to customers. Logs calls
into Lotus Notes database.
Bioseparations instrument product line consists of chromatography
instruments and media that purify proteins, including HPLC, LC, and
accessories (e.g., fraction collector, integrated autosampler, column
switchers).
The Bioseparations product line instrument names are BioCAD, BioCAD
700E, Sprint, VISION. Chemistry product line is POROS, a patented
perfusion chromatography media, as well as other media's including
immuno detection (ID) and immobilized enzyme (Porozyme) media.
Integral, which analyzes proteins.
As part of the Technical Support phone group, may assist in responding
to customer calls for all products if high call volume in phone cue.
Provides product performance feedback to Product Development, Product
Support Engineers, Manufacturing, and Marketing to resolve repetitive
customer issues.
May be asked on occasion to train customers on the use of
Bioseparations products, and to develop Bioseparations applications.
Training involves assisting in creating training materials and
delivering training session (e.g., lecture and hands-on demo skills
training), and teaching customers operation of instrument, running
samples, and troubleshooting techniques. Maintains good customer
relations, ensures customer satisfaction at key accounts, promotes
overall company as well as specific line, uncovers potential sales
leads.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Technical degree in chemistry and/or biochemistry
Direct experience in operating HPLC, LC instrumentation
Good interpersonal skills, telephone skills, communication skills
Ability to express analytical information, answer technical
questions.
