Jim,

We too have a number of 1090's, many with venerable serial numbers. But
all good things come to an end. I understand Hewlett Packard will stop
selling the 1090 before the end of the year. Of course, they will continue
to offer service and parts for some years.

That said, it may be worth noting that the new model 1100 is distinctly
less expensive that the 1090 -- although it is not clear whether pump
performance is comparable to that of the 1090, even on the top level model.
But the diode array detector is clearly superior.
