Two days ago, I wrote this message and did not send it right away. And this
morning, I was really surprised to see the amount of message on valve
block. So my question is:
"I would like to know if someone else with a peptide synthesizer (I have
the 433A from ABI) had a problem with their 8-port valve block ( in
particular: crack in the kel-f flow path). I have the 433 since 1994, I had
to change the valve block because of this problem in May 1997 and now, I
have the same problem again. It leaks behind the valve block.
I called ABI and they told me, it was natural wear and tear. Since they
don't sell separate pieces for their valve blocks, it is an expensive
change and unfortunately, we don't have a service contract...
I know the company BLOCK MAGIC, but they are trying to find a KEL-F flow
part for my other valve block (the one that broke in may 97) since that
time and they did not find one...
I never had problems with the valve blocks of my 7 year old 473A protein
sequencer."
Are there other people with the same problem ? And is there something one
can do to prevent this from happening?
I am curious to know if it only happens when we don't use ABI reagents? (I
use ABI reagents for NMP and DCM but use other source for piperidine, HBTU
and DIEA).
I'm happy not to be alone with my problems.
