Dr. Carol J. Fiol

Dear Dr. Fiol,

This is a letter to support the job application of my former employee, Hal
Hills. I first brought Hal into my research group when we were purchasing
an ABI sequencer to facilitate the relatively large scale sequencing of
ribosomal DNA. He did a superb job in setting up the sequencer and
organizing its day-to-day operation. He showed a large amount of
initiative, and was able to trouble-shoot by drawing on his substantial
common sense, good training and ability to return to first principles.
Enthusiasm was a strong suit for him and he took on as his own
responsibility the day to day handling of all problems that arise in the
course of research. He got on well with his fellow workers; they often
came to him with their problems. I was totally pleased with the work he
did here and was sorry when he decided to move in order to take a job with
better pay and more responsibility. He tells me that he is now applying
for a position with you requiring a person who is "extremely organized and
conscientious in order to provide high quality data in a timely fashion".
I have know few people who fit this description better than Hal Hills.

Sincerely,

Kenneth H. Wilson, M.D.
