I am planning to submit an NCRR (NIH) Shared Instrumentation Grant to
bring mass spectrometry to our campus. This is the first time I have
prepared one of these grants, so I would be grateful to learn from the
experience of others. Any advice will be appreciated.
I haven't made a decision on which instrument(s) to request. We are most
interested in proteins and peptides, including sequencing, but the user
group will be looking at all kinds of molecules. It seems to me that
highest priority should be to get a top of the line MALDI-TOF instrument,
but I am also considering an electrospray MS, perhaps an LC/MS. Please
advise! Many thanks. -John Collins
