We had a similar problem in two different areas and did two things: (1)
mounted a compressor up in the dropped ceiling (required increasing
ventilation to the dropped ceiling and we installed a monitoring
temperature sensor up there) and (2) bought a couple of pairs of those hi
tech ear covers that filter out background noise. I'd be worried about
putting up a lot of glue on the walls, because the background noise in the
systems might go up and the dust would accumulate in the surface making it
harder to keep the room clean enough for sensitive work.
