Mass Spectrometrist:

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the
routine operation and day-to-day maintenance of MALDI-TOF and ESI-TOF
mass spectrometers (Voyager DE and Mariner). The individual will also
be expected to assist in the development of mass spectral analytical
techniques for:

1. Analysis of oligonucleotides; QC, sequence, PCR products, and
DNA footprinting
2. Accurate and efficient determinations of affinity constants for
small molecules binding to double stranded DNA or RNA
3. Development of novel mass spectral applications to facilitate
GLT's double strand nucleic acid binding drug programs.

This position will offer the candidate the opportunity to develop
completely novel techniques for biological mass spectrometry as well as
the opportunity to publish and participate in long range planning for
the growth of the Microanalytical Chemistry Group at Genelabs
Technologies, Inc.

Please direct CV's to me. We intend to hire sometime around second or
third quarter of this year. While our previous applications have
included peptide mapping, protein mass determination, and most recently
proteomics, we intend to focus primarily in DNA binding drug technology.
This will also represent a great opportunity to get directly involved
with our DARPA collaboration which was recently announced. (For those
who aren't familiar, DARPA is the same group that brought us the
Internet and stealth technology)

I will be at ABRF in San Diego, please leave a message for me there if
you want to find out more details.
