I am assuming that these are a mixture of human or mouse serum
antibodies. There are many commercial sources of anti-isotype (IgG,
IgM, IgA) heavy chain specific antibodies. These can obviously be
coupled to solid supports for affinity columns or magnetic beads for a
quick first step purification. Protein A, G, ion exchange and or SEC
along with an antigen/immunogen affinity step for general antibody
purifications work well.

Subject: Antibody purification question

I have been asked how one would purify IgG from IgM from IgA in
a
mixture. IgG and IgM are pretty straight-forward due to the
obvious
mass difference and properties on ion-exchange. However, IgA
throws me
for a loop as nobody I know really deals with it. Any ideas ?
