Mark, I have been using these new guard cartridges without any
problem--you might have to replace the teflon seal on one end of your
metal new guard holder--you can get the whole replacement kit from ABI PN
0715-0023. For this you get 2 internal snap rings, 2 external snap rings,
2 seals--probably only one of the two is shot--pliers and a tool for
inserting the seal. Maybe they sell some of theses components separately,
but you might want to buy the whole kit the first time to get ahold of the
seal insertion tool.
