Dear all,

I am using a Rainin Symphony and perform almost all cleavages with EDT
in the mixture. I find that the odor is minimal, though still present.

We have an extraction fan on the back of the instrument that pulls air
through at 0.5 cubic meters per minute (with one door open). This air
is vented out through the roof.

Dear all:

Lynn mentioned cleavage on the Rainin symphony (good point with the EDT!) .
We have a new Rainin and we would like to take advantage of the on-board
cleavage feature independent of the cleavage mixture. When using reagent K
the smells were so strong that we stopped performing cleavages which
involve thiol-scavengers on the machine. Despite that our lab ventilation
system will be checked thoroughly...
Is it technically possible to completely avoid odor with this machine when
using thiol scavengers?

Henriette
