The HP discount offer is quite clear in stating that that the system must
be a working one -- not a junk heap. For example, the brochure from HP
says, "You can even turn in another manufacturer's systems, as long as
they're currently running samples in your laboratory."
The 15% discount is attractive, but the value is decreased by about $750 --
the fee HP levies to ship the system to their crushing station.
