Hello all,
I had a question about my remark about my technician turned service
engineer. Yes he was hired by PE Applied Biosystems, and I recommended him
for the job, indeed I kept him posted about job opportunities I saw on the
roundtable. I knew when I hired him that I could not keep him forever, but
he was excellent, and was wonderful with the machines. There is no way I
can pay a carreer wage to even myself. I work 80% and stay with this
position because it is fun and I have a lot of flexiblity. My tech's wife
wanted to stay home with their two very young children and there was no way
they could make ends meet on what I can pay.
My former tech will be an excellent service engineer because he knows
the real world problems of running the machines. Although I miss him in
the lab, I did not mean to imply that ABI "stole" him.
