The method of choice really depends on the amount of information that
is needed and the complexity of the oligosaccharides present in your
sample. We've recently compared polyacrylamide gel based (FACE,
distributed by Glyko Inc.), HPLC based (Glycosep, distributed by Oxford
Glycosciences), ESMS based (MS of methylated glycans, Reinhold et al. 1995
Analytical Chemistry 67, 1772-1784) methods and found that all three
methods gave comparable results. The data was presented in a poster at the
'98 WCBP in San Francisco (Kobayashi et.al.). I'll be happy to send you a
copy of the abstract if it's useful to you.

Hello ABRF members,
I was asked today what is the method of choice for the quantitation of
glycoforms on a glycoprotein? Is this being done routinely, ie QC? Are
there
other ways to monitor the same information?
All answers accepted. Thank you in advance for your time.
