ESA makes very nice tricine SDS-PAGE precast gels. I generally prefer
tricine as the bands are much sharper. Novex and Biorad are pretty
good as well. However, I have run some really stunning gels using ESA
gels. See Prot Exp Pur 8, 262-270 (1996) and there's also a pretty good
gel in J. Chrom. B 685, 91-104 (1996). These gels did not have to be
pre-run and as you can see from the papers, peptides sequence and mass
spectromtery data were quite readily obtained. ESA's number is (800)
