Hello to all:

Over the last four months, we have been experiencing a rash of early column
failures (peak splitting; esp. in third buffer region) with our Beckman 6300
Li based amino acid analyser. While Beckman has been replacing the columns
free of charge, we are unable to secure a dependable column. Data follows:

Li column S/N = 278
Installation date = Dec/97
# of runs before failure = 278

Li column S/N = 227
Installation date = Feb/98
# of runs before failure = 238

Li column S/N = 296
Installation date = Mar/98
# of runs before failure = 28

Li column S/N = 376
Installation date = Apr/98
# of runs before failure = 38

Question #1: Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, do you have
a solution?

Question #2: We are considering the purchase of Pickering's Li
column/buffers/adapters and would appreciate any comments concerning this
column system.

Thanks very much for your time.
Jack
