Hi

I am interested in protein quantification, using images of 1D and 2D SDS PAGE gels. I have captured images using a CCD camera, however, I tend to pick up hot spots in the fluorescent tubes and odd reflections in the light box. Different areas on the light box can vary by up to 15 gray levels. This results in non-uniform background lighting and therefore, accurate quantification in not possible. Has anyone had any experience with a light box that transmits uniform light? What is the current method of imaging gels for protein quantification?
