Since the computer is an XT it should work.
Maybe it is easier instead of modifying the hardware, just connect to
another computer using the serial (or parallel) port and transfer the
data using software like the LapLink. Since the OS is DOS 2.11 (modified,
but most of it runs the same way), you can transfer any data from the HD
with such software.
