We anticipate purchasing a number of DNA sequencing machines early next
year and are interested in what might be coming out of Perkin-Elmer soon.
As you know, they are forming a company with Venter to use their new
technology to sequence the entire human genome in about 3 years. Have any
of you heard anything about how the new machine works? It sounds like a
multicapillary machine, perhaps with highly multiplexed detection, but the
press releases don't give anything about design or performance. Any info
would be appreciated.
