ABRF -- Virus Alerts - a dangerous habit!

The best way to send a virus is in a "virus alert" -- everyone forwards
them!

Your best protection from viruses:

1) Accept no eMail from persons unknown to you. This is difficult for
participants in a list like ABRF, but it is unlikely that a virus will
arrive under the text heading of "MALDI" or "Peptide Sequencing". Just
delete it if the address doesn't look familiar. Another good reason to
make good use of the subject line.
Anything that starts with "FREE" or "WIN" is probably not from a close
friend or colleague.

2) Own a good virus checker, and have it in active mode.

3) Viruses are generally in attached files and/or executable files.
Find out what it is before you click on it or save it to disk.
