The Mass Spectrometry Facility in the Department of Chemistry at the
University of Minnesota is seeking a mass spectroscopist to direct the
facility. The facility currently consists of 5 spectrometers including
a Finnigan FTMS 2001, a Finnigan MAT-90, and a VG-7070E-HF. Duties of
the director include the maintenance and operation of the facility,
supervision of staff personnel, training graduate students in the use of
the instruments, and applications support in the use of modern mass
spectrometry to solve structural problems in all areas of chemistry.
Candidates should also have the ability and desire to develop
cooperative research projects with faculty in chemistry. This is a
full-time, annually renewable Research Associate position beginning
August 1998 or thereafter.

Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. (by beginning date of appointment)
in a physical science and extensive experience in mass spectrometry
(data collection, and equipment maintenance). Applicants should send a
