Re: Dave Schooley's note on the IUPAC terms recommended for SEC: This
recommendation dates from 1974. At that time, all materials available for SEC
were indeed gels of some sort: Sephadex, Bio-Gel, etc. Good silica-based
materials for the purpose didn't appear until a year or so later. With their
appearance, the term Gel Anything has become a misnomer. Should IUPAC
reconvene the committee?
