I was wondering does anyone know if there exists such a thing as a lemon
law for an expensive piece of lab equipment, (eg. oh I don't know lets
just say a 3948 DNA synthesizer from Perkin Elmer).

I would be interested in hearing from other users of this machine and
haering what their views and experiences have been lately. In particular I
am interested in Availability of service engineers (not just getting one
to show up, but not one that is so stressed from their work load that they
can hardly see straight)(for this I'm not blaming the service people).I am
also interested in haering anything anyone has to say aboutthe so called
"back-up" system that is supposed to be in place, that in my experience
has been nothin0g but lame.

I think there have been enough rah rah sessions and user sessions for this
company to know what is needed. If anyone else shares my concerns please
contact me, I would enjoy the chance to discuss this issue with you.

Thanks, Duane Bartley
