We routinely wash manually everyday with hot water in the sink using
Multi-Terge detergent (available from EM Science and others probably)
and have no apparent problem with build-up. Knock on wood! Final
rinse is with Milli-Q water
But the gel formulation cannot be ruled out either. Before switching
to Long Ranger Singel we had seen a problem with build-up using a
different formulation. We cleaned the plates with Multi-Terge and the
problem went away. We also switched to Long Ranger gels shortly
thereafter so we cannot rule out that the gel formulation could also
contribute to the problem.
