April,
I have owned two HPLC's from Michrom Bioresources with the most recent a
Magic 2002 which we received last summer to run with our API 365 triple
quadrupole. Both performed well with direct flow down to around 25-30
microliters/min and to 2 ul/min or less with their precolumn splitter. We
have their new 35 nanoliter flowcell which has an 8mm pathlength which
provides superior sensitivity at our routine operating wavelength of 195
nm. I highly recommend you get this as an option. An added plus is dual
wavelength detection.
Data handling is provided by relatively user-friendly EZchrom software and
the instrument is controlled via separate PC software which is somewhat
inconvenient, although I've been told that they are working on a single
package which will incorporate both data acquisition and control.
The only problem we have encountered was with one of the checkvalves in
the Bishof pumpheads. Michrom does provide very good field service and user
support, and pump heads are accepted on an exchange basis with a simple
user install. Unfortunately, they are not covered by the otherwise generous
one year warranty.
By the way, I am not personally connected with Michrom in any way.
regards
