You don't say whether your samples contain other amines but, if not, a
useful reagent for this purpose is trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS).
Derivatives have very high extinction coefficients and procedures are very
fast. While I don't have references easily at hand, they are in the
literature, including in Methods in Enzymology.
