1) Synthetic peptide chemistry:
The successful candidate will be required to synthesize fragments of
membrane receptors for biophysical characterization. Experience in
peptide synthesis and purification desireable -however excellence in
organic chemistry will also be considered. Laboratory well equipped
with peptide synthesizer, HPLCs and CZE capabilities. Department has
600 MHz nmr, CD and FTIR. The postdoc must be able to interact with
other scientists who will be carrying out biophysical analysis.
Position will also involve the synthesis of short biologically active
peptides and fluorescent derivatives of peptides.Candidate must speak
and understand English. Salary $24,000 year plus excellent benefits
including health care.
2) Biophysical chemist: Individual familair with the use of NMR for
structural analysis of peptides and proteins. Primary task will be to
develop procedures to study the structure of fragments of a GPCR in
lipid environments. Willingness to work with other techniques such as
CD and ATR/FTIR also critical. Some studies on receptor-ligand
interaction may require fluorescence analysis. The postdoc must be able to
interact with other scientists who will be carrying out synthetic
aspects of the project. Candidate must speak and understand
English. Salary $24,000 year plus excellent benefits
including health care.
