Our 96 well upgrades have not been installed but I have been using the 3.2
software with our 64 lane gels. The software is incredible in its ability
to track gels especially for situations like ours in a core facilty where
reactions often do not work. It even tracks gels which are distorted. In
addition it generates analyzed data from very weak signals. They have
added an interpolation button that adjusts all lanes between the two
selected lanes. There are control points in the lanes already, no need to
keep cutting the tracker lines to follow distorted lanes. The gels still
need a bit of tweeking but its very easy to do.
It takes about 25 minutes to track a 64 lane gel on my 8600/200 with 96 mb
of Ram. I have not tried it on our G3's yet.
Hopefully the software will be sent to other users soon.
PE applied Biosystems has done it right this time, congratulations to Dave
Holden.
