Hal and all,

Just a cautionary note on the G3's and Analysis 3.2. We bought the 96-lane
upgrade (also not installed yet) and a G3 computer from a local
distributor. The new G3 came with OS 8.1 extended (or plus). Analysis 3.2
is recommended for system 8. You cannot use the installer on Analysis 3.2
with OS 8.1 extended. PE-Biosystems recommended we down-grade to OS 8
(comes with the 3.2 software). Unfortunately, we can't. Apple tells us
that the newer G3's can't run OS 8, can only downgrade to 8.1 (plain). We
have managed to install A3.2 with OS8.1, but the crash occurs when
Analysis is set to automatically launch after data collection. I agree
with Hal, the tracker really works well, so it doesn't set us back too
much, but it is a shame that now there is finally an analysis version you
COULD reasonably set up for automatic analysis, that we CAN'T. We have
been talking with PE-Biosystems about this, and hopefully there will be a
fix, as those new G3's are out there. If anyone else has encountered this
problem and found a solution, please let me know.
