We usually use silicone seal (from Hoeffer), putting just a small amount at
the top of the plungers to keep them moving freely. As for bending, I
haven't found a way around that yet either... we just keep extra syringes
on hand to replace the ones that get bent or break.
Hamilton has a recommended protocol (and kit) for the periodic
cleaning of the syringes that we've used but not often. Clogging isn't
generally a problem for us.
