Hi- we have one of those Ciphergen MALDI's and for our purposes it is OK-
mostly confirmation of synthesized peptide mass, purity of samples sent in
for N-terminal sequencing and AAA. It is supposed to be able to perform
C-terminal sequencing with the SELDI technology but as busy as we are I
have not yet tried that technology. I do have problems occasionally with
larger proteins(>60KDa) but as I am new to this field it may need a little
more tweaking on my part. It is simple to use- we say "aim and shoot" and
the software is fairly intuitive. We have had it now for almost a year
and no major problems. I am sure my colleagues may have additional
comments- you should receive them soon. Please feel free to contact us
directly if you have more specific questions!
Ciao,
