As an aside for labs using Beckman System Gold. In the next millennium you
will have to use version 8.1 or higher to be in "Year 2000 Compliance" or
your system will CRASH. Older hardware can also crash into the next
millennium. Beckman has set up an email address for questions concerning
year 2000 compliance of their instrumnets.
year2000@beckman.com
I hope other instrument makers will set up similar email addresses and
notify us of them on this electronic discussion bulletin board. The next
millennium is only 18 months away and if we need to buy new software and
hardware for our lab instruments we need to budget for them, get the
money, and make the purchases and installation before Jan.1, 2000.
P.S. Don't buy any instrument that is not in "Year 2000 Compliance"!
