I heartily agree that an award for service excellence by an individual
engineer would be a great acknowledgement! I have had engineers stay with me
until 3 am just to get a machine running for the next day, or call me on
their way to a funeral to arrange immediate service, and would love to see
such dedication honored somewhere (besides my undying gratitude, of course).

EB: What would we have to do to enact such a thing? Is there any way we can
do this yet avoid having it become a de facto endorsement of a particular
company (thus entering the murky realm of perceived favoritism)? In other
words, how can we be sure to keep it focused on the individual? Is there an
ABRF committee that this activity would fall under? Could we present the
award at the annual meetings? Maybe companies would sponsor their nominated
engineers to attend the meeting?

Great suggestion - any more supporters, or other concerns?
