Millenium Bug (was: AAA INTEGRATION SYSTEM/SOFTWARE)

ABRFers,

Regarding the "millenium bug" and Beckman System Gold, there is no
evidence that older versions of Gold will crash when the millenium hits.
Beckman simply has not tested other versions of Gold than the current
8.1 version (and has no plans to do so). It is very unlikely that any
version of Gold would crash the PC because of this problem; it might
only report the date incorrectly. The same holds true for most
chromatographic analysis programs because they report the date but do
not calculate anything with it.

But remember that regardless of what software package you run (Gold or
any other) you must have a *Year 2000 Compliant Computer*. Most
programs just read the PC's clock/calendar -- if that's wrong even Year
2000 certified software can't fix it.

To get information on checking your PC for compliance, and for
practically anything else you could ever want to know about this issue,
visit the official year 2000 web site

Regards,
Harry
